On September 23rd 2011 VHF Radio exams where conducted on St. Maarten at Bureau Telecommunication and Post St. Maarten. In total 25 participants sat the VHF Radio exams in order to obtain a VHF operator’s license. The execution of the closed book exam was in the presence of two registered invigilators appointed by Bureau telecommunication and Post St. Maarten.

PHILIPSBURG - St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) presented some winners of this year's Carnival competitions with their Bureau Telecommunication and Post-sponsored prizes on Friday. Prize recipients were Junior Calypso Queen Denicia Martimbor, Junior Calypso competition second place winner Erissa Cozier, Junior Queen Zaysha Sinclair, Junior pageant first runner-up Dashannique Pascal, Senior Queen Trumane Trotman and Senior pageant first runner-up Davinia Brooks.

PHILIPSBURG - NAAP Global Solutions, a leading global provider of asset management solutions for telecommunications carriers and utility companies, announced this week that Bureau Telecommunications and Post St. Maarten (BTP) has selected its Network Asset Administration Program (NAAP) to monitor operator compliance, reduce overhead and OPEX, generate fee revenue as clearinghouse of information and to improve emergency recovery in the case of a natural disaster.

MAHO - Another facet of St. Maarten's identity as an autonomous country within the Dutch Kingdom was established when the country's new dialing code 1-721 went into effect at 2:00am this morning. The new code was launched symbolically at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort on Thursday afternoon when former Netherlands Antilles telecommunication minister Captain Leo Chance pressed a button to introduce it.

BTP donates data servers to MPC

Bureau Telecommunications and Post St. Maarten donated two HP servers, a Linksys 4 Bay gig network storage system and a large server rack to the IT department of the Milton Peter College in St. Maarten. The data storage system and servers will form a critical part of a network that will execute a number of important functions such as: providing shared access to files, provide central email services, central data management and access control to the network.

1-721: New Dialing code country St. Maarten

September 30th 2011 will mark the commencement of the use of the dialing code 1-721 for St. Maarten. During the Permissive Dialing Period September 30th, 2011- September 30th 2012 calls to St. Maarten using either 00-599 or 1-721 shall be processed regularly be it that callers using 00-599 shall be advised that the dialing code has changed and the new code should be used.
